Villa San-Juliette Winery, Paso Robles, California
100% Petite Sirah
Our fruit marries big California flavors with restrained elegance. After an explosion of blueberry, there are layers of orange zest, violet, cedar, and mocha before the acidity turns the flavors towards red fruits on the finish. The structured tannins are slow on release, yielding a firm structure that melts when paired with big cheeses and braised meats.
Petite Sirah 2011
90% Zinfandel, 7% Petite Sirah, 3% Sirah
With a hue matched only by January garnets, this wine, like a good secret, is worth savoring. Heady aromas of leather and roasted figs set the stage for the rush of fruits and exotic spices that burst from the flavors. Molasses, plum and tobacco notes explode on the palate and segue into a wild pecan pie finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Alicante Bouschete, 9% Syrah and 3% Cabernet Franc.
Covering the lion’s share of the estate, our nearly 49 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon span gentle hills and steep slopes. This varied topography and the corresponding soils that range from calcareous shale to alluvium provide our vines with an optimal range of growing conditions, resulting in a vast array of flavors and aromas. Red fruits, cassis and solid tannins are the hallmark of this classic Paso Robles varietal. Enjoy with a wide range of pastas, meats, and traditional barbeque fare.
Tough, brazen, and dense: the Villa San-Juliette 2012 Merlot boldly lives up to the esteemed reputation of this noble varietal’s former glory. Harvested from a seasoned estate block that yields just 2.5 tons to the acre, the fruit is ripe and highly concentrated. Just peering into the dark purple depths of a gorgeous glass of this wine shows that it is hardly another gentle or forgettable quaffer. Its aromatics intrigue, with heady notes of clove, hickory smoke, and beef au jus. Dominant on the palate, big anise, olive oil, and maple flavors interweave with firm tannins that melt with rich, saucy beef dishes and juicy tenderloin.
